To convert, multiply the area in square feet by 0.0929. To go the other way, divide square metres by 0.0929, or multiply by 10.7639.

Worked examples
- A 650 sq ft flat: 650 × 0.0929 = 60.39 sq m.
- A 1,200 sq ft plot: 1,200 × 0.0929 = 111.48 sq m, or 133.3 square yards.
- A 50 sq m shop: 50 × 10.7639 = 538.2 sq ft.
Carpet area vs built-up area
When you compare flats, check which area is being quoted. Carpet area is the usable floor area inside the walls; built-up and super built-up areas add walls, balconies and a share of common areas, so they are larger. The conversion factor is the same for all of them.
